Nice idea!
I'm seeing such virtual thing on NG for the first time.
Too bad there is no chocolate inside. :P

Cheers & happy 1st of 24 days day!

mmmm... chocolate!

I gave this game 5 stars, because it is
>addicting
>the (simple) controls work fine without any flaws
>the game runs smooth
>the gameplay is fair
(and not randomly fair and unfair, which would turn it into a "luck game" and less a "skill game")
>the graphics are just perfect
>the main theme made me laugh :)

Although the game's graphics are super simple, it is an important part of the game.
Better graphics with all kind of details would affect your concentration and it would be harder to focus on those two ball-type characters and that might ruin the whole fun.

This game is kinda addicting, but I never felt any frustration.
The only thing that made me stop playing this game, was the fact that my eyes started hurting.
So I suggest to make a break every 10 minutes.

This brings me to the next thing; the colors.
The color contrast might be one of the reasons why your eyes start hurting,
but this color combination works just perfect.
If this game were black and white (inb4 black and white are not colors) it would be way more difficult to focus on the whole thing and might make you kinda sleepy as well.

I'm not a biologist, but I think this game is also nice to test your right/left hemisphere.

Nice work! Cheers!

NoLanLabs responds:

I thought about adding powerups, but thought that might make things too unfair and luck-based, in such a short game.

Thanks for the review bro.

This game is fun to play, but there are some things that might ruin the gameplay.

>>How about a 2 seconds invincible mode (after your ship got hit by a "spike barrel")?
In some cases you lose all of your hearts pretty fast, because you are surrounded
by those barrels and can't move. Such mode adds a tiny bit more fairness.

>>How about a bit more space for the ship, to avoid the attacks?
I had several moments in the game, where you simply can't avoid the attacks.
Maybe you should also reconfigurate the way the octopus attacks.
Every new game seems to be totally different. Sometimes it's unfair and sometimes "pretty easy".

>>The slot machine
I played this game + - 15 hours ago (before you altered the slot game)
and 10 gems each "bet" was enough to play it forever. But 100 gems is too much imo.
When the slot machine took 10 gems each bet, I had at least "double hearts" and/or "double bombs"
(I never managed to get "double score" though). Now, I get nothing, except somtimes 3 gems in a row.
You should change the random principle.

>>Suggestions short:
- maybe 2 seconds invincible mode after ship got hit
- bigger level = more space to move/avoid attacks
- alter octopus' attacks
- maybe 30 gems for each bet
- alter slot machine's random principle

I'd really like to add this game to my favs. Like I said; this game is fun.
Cheers!

Hey Catroonica,

Thanks for your feedback, I'm tweaking the game as I receive feedback so I'll be adding in your changes. I think most of what you have said has been said by a mate as well so it's good to have it confirmed.

I'm glad your enjoying the game, I'll do my best to get it configured right :-)

How does 50c a spin sound? I'll try and make the payouts a bit more often as well?

EDIT
Now you have three seconds to get into a safe zone when hit by barrels :-)
The release of barrels has been tweaked
I couldn't increase the size of the level, but I did shrink the boat so you have more space
Bets are now 30c
I've made the spin pay out more, but it really is random so you may not see an obvious change :-)

Nice game!
+Good graphics
+Smooth running game
+Simple, easy controllable controls

Suggestion: After completing all goals, Evil Eyes will pop up way sooner and faster.
That's okay, but with so many Evil Eyes, there comes a big issue.

For example: When there are 4 Evil Eyes in the game, it is kinda confusing (and impossible)
to find the Evil Eye I bit in the last bonus round (pink rainbow box).
A simple solution would be >> changing skin color, which indicates its health level.
If I attack an Evil Eye and put its health down to 80%, 60%, 40%, 20%,
its skin could change from green, to light green, to orange, to red or something like that.
Without such option its hit or miss most of the time.

Cheers!

JuicyBeast responds:

In fact, this is a bug, a new version with this bug fixed is now uploaded! Thanks for the feedback ;)

No ending - I'm disappointed

First of all, the graphics and quite complex constructed game concept
(affecting the mood, hunger and humanity) is very well done.
Also the sounds and voice acting + background infos are interesting.

BUT I put so much time in completing this game just to see the ending.
Unfortunately, at 100%, there was nothing.
All I achieved are some medals, a major loss of hours and disappointment.
[CARTOONICA's MOOD 10%]

I played and completed "Road of the Dead" and expected something similar.
The game started good and told a story.
I mean, it's even connected to "ROTD". If you watch closely, there is a voice recording of the nuking, which also appears at the end of "ROTD" and therefore this means "LOTD" continues after this event. I thought that's pretty cool.

You guys put so much work into this, but that's not even an open ending.
"ROTD" had an open ending imo and I was cool with that, because it's always like that. But this!? C'mon!
You had so many options.
a) A Scene where he simply escapes and...
- dies due to zombie attack
- flies away in a helicopter (and then dies due to hidden zombie in the back of the heli or just a cheesy "Imma flyin toward the sun" ending)
- saves his ass on a non infected area (and maybe got infected but didn't noticed it - to be continued...)
b) He starts to trust the zombie and thinks it's save to
- hug him or her and suddenly the zombie rips his head off (zing PUNK'D!)
- have a sexual relationship and discovers the joy of necrophilia,
that isn't really necrophilia...well, a new level.
He gets zombie aids, his dick falls off and he dies.

Over 9000 endings!!!

Evil-Dog responds:

a) he escapes and then it makes no sense to continue playing?
b) no comment lmao

The ending is when you kill everyone...we're dissapointed no one gets that....and we don't know why....we really don't. A cinematic for christ's sake what more do you want haha...

"RAPE"

I C wut ya did thurr! :O (Got me)

Anyway, nice work, man!
No criticism from my side - everything is fine imo.
...but I really wish there were more games like this one
(there is just a handful) on Newgrounds.
It's always fun to guess the next move and bump into some unexpected things.
+ the 8bit sounds enable my inner nostlagia mode.

Cheers!

thinking-man responds:

Cheers right back!

Trippin' balls

Yes, a little bit, but that design + those effects are pretty cool and I really like the feeling of the controls.
It instantly reminded me of that certain "Star Fox" level on the SNES.
Maybe you can do a second version of this game with some enemies and some weapons to shoot them down. I mean, this game is good and entertaining the way it is, but I'd really like to see a shooter with that kind of graphic.
Anyway, great work!

Vibe13 responds:

I've just started on a new version to see if I can get some stuff in there to shoot.

Why is this so addicting?!

Three commands (up, down and jump), two different objects to avoid,
on a route that never changes (except the order of appearing objects),
but the speed becomes faster and faster.
And this is pretty addicting.
I like this game. It's a true based on reaction game and after a certain time,
your eyes really trippin' balls.
The music is not annoying imo. I think it's pretty useful,
'cause you can tell by the music at which point the turtle becomes faster.
Good work - more simple and addicting stuff like that please. :D

Holmfry responds:

Glad you like my secret formula! Also I'm happy to hear that you appreciate the music as an integral part of the game, that's how I generally treat the music in my games and why I don't usually include mute buttons ;)

Thanks for the review!

Not bad

Nice knew concept of tic tac toe.
The first time is really surprising how the table grows and changes his form.
But if you play this game several times and get comfy to the next upcoming shape, I think this game will be really entertaining.
Graphics and music are pretty neutral, but fit the game, 'cause flashy, colorful designs would be distracting.
Good work.

achronism responds:

Thanks for the positive words. You've described exactly what I was going for, visually pleasing but not intrusive.

Nice

That was infact a pretty nice mini game.
The controls are very simple, the game reacts to my clicks without any delays,
the graphic is good and the music is okay (doesn't annoy).
The only thing I missed was something like upgrades/specials.
Anyway, good work!

JGOware responds:

Good stuff mate, thanks for the reply. ;)
